Please see below link for informational sheets to help you calculate the traditional proper occupant loads as well as occupant loads in compliance with the governor’s recent executive order.  This information is intended to provide an estimate of the permitted occupant capacity for certain businesses.

The Inspection Department is open to the public for business.

Please call to make arrangements if you do not feel comfortable entering the building to drop off your permit application/plans or to schedule inspections. 507-444-4370

We can process most applications electronically if you have a scanning and sending capability. We can also accomplish this by mailing methods. All common applications are available on the website.  


  • We will ask all customers, including contractors and building owners, to respect a space of 6 feet or more from inspectors when on-site.
  • We ask if you have anyone sick in your home or place of business we will need to reschedule.
