OPL Mobile App

OPL Mobile Goes Where You Go!

Want to renew a book or place one on hold? There’s an app for that. Find library hours or locations? There’s an app for that. Download an ebook? Find information fast? There’s an app for that, too.

OPL Mobile puts the library at your fingertips. From any mobile phone connected to the internet you can instantly tap into Owatonna Public Library and Blooming Prairie Branch Library resources, anytime, anywhere. You can search the library catalog, check your account, ask a question, find events, and more.

How can I get the app?
All smart phone users can use their phone’s Internet browser to visit owatonna.boopsie.com and install the app. Android users can also download OPL Mobile directly from the Google Play or Amazon App stores, and iPhone/iPad users can find it in the Apple App Store. Or, use the QR code:

The OPL Mobile app works on all Apple mobile devices (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad), on all Android phones, and on other smartphones (BlackBerry, Windows). OPL Mobile app can also be downloaded to the Kindle Fire but *not* other Android tablets (such as the Nook) at this time.

Learn a New Language
We recently added Mango Languages to the OPL Mobile app menu. Chinese, French, Italian, Russian, Swedish, Urdu; choose from a list of more than 40 languages and start learning!

Download eBooks and eAudio
OPL Mobile works together with the OverDrive Media Console app to allow checkouts. The OverDrive Media Console app is also available for all Apple mobile devices, all Android phones, and other smartphones (BlackBerry, Windows).

The OverDrive app is not available in the Amazon app store, but there is a work-around that Kindle Fire users can try. Fergus Falls Public Library has written a helpful information sheet detailing the steps. (Thank you, Fegus Falls Public Library!)

IMPORTANT: Note that at this time, when you look for eBooks via the OPL Mobile app you will only see items that are Availble now. In other words, eBooks that we own but that are currently checked out will not be listed, and you will not be able to go on the waiting list for checked-out titles via OPL Mobile. Use the dedicated OverDrive app or search the eBook catalog online (selco.lib.overdrive.com) to see the entire collection and to place requests. We have submitted a request to Boopsie that they make the full collection available via the app in a future release.

What is Boopsie?
The library’s mobile app was developed by Boopsie Inc. More than 2500 libraries and universities use Boopsie to increase campus and community visibility. Owatonna Public Library used gift moneys to fund development of this new service.

For more information on the library’s mobile app, visit owatonna.boopsie.com or contact library staff at 507-444-2460.
