What is the #CaptureOwatonna photo contest?
#CaptureOwatonna gives community members a chance to show the City of Owatonna what they find special about this city. Every community member has a story, and we can’t wait to see what you love about Owatonna.

A panel of judges will choose 6 entries to be displayed in a gallery at the Owatonna Public Library. To commemorate the “grand opening” of the gallery, a reception will be held at the library to honor the photographers.

Who can submit photos?
Anyone who lives, works, or attends school in Owatonna may submit photos.

How many photos can I submit?
A total of 5 photos may be submitted.

What specifications should my photo have?
Photos need to be taken in Owatonna. Photos need to be a minimum of 150 KB and a maximum of 2 MB in size.

What if there are people in my photo?
You must have permission from any persons pictured in your photo to use that photo. If there is a minor in the photo, permission must be obtained from their parent or guardian. Permission must be gained prior to photo submission. The City of Owatonna is not responsible for obtaining subject permission.

How can I submit a photo?
Email your photo to Cassie Gilgenbach, cassie@owatonna.info.

You must include the following information: name, address, phone number, email address, age (if under 18), and title of the photo. If you do not include that information, your photo will not be considered. You may also include social media handles (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) if you so choose.

How do I know if my photo was successfully submitted?
Once your photo is successfully received, you will receive an email confirmation within 2 business days.

Can I view, edit, or delete my photo after it has been submitted?
You cannot edit a photo after it has been submitted. If you have issues with a photo you have submitted, please email cassie@owatonna.info with detailed information.

What happens after I submit my photo?
Photo submissions will be accepted from 1/1/18 until 3/1/18. After submissions have closed, an anonymous panel of judges chosen by the City of Owatonna will review entries to select winners.

How will I know if my photo won?
If you win, you will be contacted by the City of Owatonna. Your photo may also be included in an announcement on social media.
