Rental Property Inspection Checklist

This checklist contains the items that the inspectors are looking at while conducting the inspection.  The main categories are: Fire Department Information and Access; Utilities, Housekeeping, Storage of Flammable & Combustible Materials; Electrical Equipment and Wiring; Exit Features; Fire Alarm and Smoke or Heat Detectors; Fire Extinguishing Equipment and Systems; Fire Separations and Fire Door Maintenance; Interior and Exterior Areas. 

NOTE:  The inspectors require working smoke detectors installed in all bedrooms and a working carbon monoxide detector installed within 10 feet of the sleeping areas.  This is a very common violation - please make sure this is taken care of prior to the inspection.
